Tragedy Befalls:

While passing through a dense forest, unaware of their surroundings, Shravan Kumar accidentally disturbed the meditation of the revered sage Rishi Vishwamitra. Before departing, Rishi Vishwamitra blessed Shravan Kumar and foretold a grim prophecy.

Tragically, during their journey, King Dasharatha of Ayodhya, who was on a hunting expedition, mistook the sound of Shravan Kumar's footsteps near a lakeside for that of a wild animal. Without realising his grave mistake, King Dasharatha released an arrow towards the source of the sound, unknowingly mortally wounding Shravan.

As Shravan lay on the brink of death, he called out to his parents, who rushed to his side. In his final moments, Shravan requested them to take water from the nearby lake to quench his thirst. Heartbroken and unknowing of the impending tragedy, his parents rushed to the lake, only to discover their innocent son's lifeless body pierced by an arrow.

The grieving parents were shattered, consumed by sorrow and guilt upon realising their accidental role in their son's demise. Shravan Kumar's pure heart and selflessness had touched the gods, who witnessed the entire tragic event. Deeply moved, they descended upon the scene, praising Shravan Kumar's devotion and offering him salvation.
