THE SACRED RUDRAKSHA: TEARDROP OF LORD SHIVA

According to ancient texts, Rudraksha is formed from the teardrop of Lord Shiva. This religious article is considered highly auspicious in Hindu belief. However, the fascinating story behind the origin of Rudraksha is known to few.

The Origin of Rudraksha

As narrated in the Shiv Puran, the world was once a place of peace and harmony. This tranquility was disrupted by a demon named Tripurasur, who unleashed havoc on the planet. Helpless mortals turned to the gods for help, who then advised them to pray to Lord Shiva, the only deity capable of confronting the menacing Tripurasur.

To vanquish the demon, Shiva needed the powerful Aghoor-Astra. After 1,000 years of intense meditation, the Astra finally appeared, and Shiva defeated Tripurasur. When Shiva opened his eyes after a millennium of meditation, his tears fell upon the earth, giving birth to the sacred Rudraksha tree.

The Significance of Rudraksha

The term "Rudraksha" is derived from two words: "Rudra," another name for Shiva, and "Aksha," meaning teardrops. To bless his devotees, Shiva bestowed Rudraksha upon the four Varnas: white Rudraksha for Brahmins, red for Kshatriyas, yellow for Vaisyas, and black for Shudras. Historically, Rudraksha trees flourished in places like Mathura, Lanka, Ayodhya, the Malaya and Sahya mountains, and Kashi. Devotees believe that wearing Rudraksha pleases Lord Shiva.

Benefits of Different Rudraksha Types

Sanjay Sethi, an astrology and Rudraksha expert, explains that different types of Rudraksha offer various benefits. For instance, the One Mukhi Rudraksha enhances knowledge, concentration, and education; the Tri Mukhi Rudraksha brings wealth and prosperity; and the Panch Mukhi Rudraksha promotes overall well-being. Wearing authentic Rudraksha eradicates negativity and evil from one's life.

Enhancing Life with Rudraksha

Wearing Rudraksha shapes the personality of the wearer, enhancing confidence, patience, and overall persona.
