WHY DID LORD KRISHNA LEAVE VRINDAVAN AND WHAT HAPPENED TO RADHARANI AFTER HE LEFT?
The departure of Shri Krishna from Vrindavan to Mathura to fulfill his divine mission of destroying the tyrant ruler Kamsa was a moment of profound sorrow for Radharani and the Brajwasis. The land of Vrindavan was shrouded in grief and despair as the separation from Krishna weighed heavily on their hearts.
Before leaving, Krishna spent his final moments with Radharani in a silence that spoke more eloquently than words. This quiet communication between them reflected their deep connection—a union of two beings with one soul. Despite their physical separation, the divine couple remained inseparable in spirit, with Krishna residing in Radha's heart and Radharani living in the core of Krishna’s being.
Radha declared that even though Krishna had physically left her, no one could truly separate them because Krishna had become her very essence, her own heart. Her unwavering devotion was rooted in Krishna’s assurance that the purpose of her divine birth was to demonstrate the power of true love.
As Krishna gently bid farewell to the Gopis and Gopikas, he departed for Mathura with Akrura and Balrama. Time passed, and Krishna fulfilled his divine duties—defeating Kamsa, Sisupala, and many other demons. He established a grand palace in Mathura, which was later relocated overnight to Dwarka, a city built within the sea to protect its inhabitants from evil forces.
Meanwhile, in Vrindavan, Radha’s life took on a new path. She lived in constant remembrance of Krishna, her mind devoted entirely to thoughts of him. Her world revolved around her love for Krishna, with little concern for anything else. However, her parents urged her to marry and take on the responsibilities of family life. Though she complied, marrying Ayan, Radha’s heart remained with Krishna, and her life became a journey of inner contemplation.
Years passed, and the story of Radha and Krishna seemed to have reached its conclusion. Yet, Radha's life took a significant turn when she decided to journey to Dwarka to see Krishna once more. By this time, she had fulfilled her household duties and, despite her frail health, made the long trek to the city of Dwarka.
Upon entering Krishna’s palace, Radharani was overwhelmed by the divine presence of Krishna, who now appeared as a majestic king. She requested permission to stay in the palace, not as a queen but as a caretaker, simply to see Krishna every day. However, being so close yet so distant from Shyamsundar only deepened her sorrow. Unable to bear the pain, Radha quietly left the palace.
As Radharani wandered the streets of Dwarka, unaware of where she was heading, Krishna, who knew her every thought and emotion, followed her. When Krishna finally approached Radha, she was awakened by his divine presence. Overwhelmed by the sight of Shyamsundar, Radharani was captivated by his beauty.
Understanding that this was their final moment together, Krishna wished to give Radha something special. Although Radha initially resisted, she eventually agreed to hear Krishna play his flute one last time. As Krishna played the sacred melody, Radha’s soul merged with his, and she became one with the divine.
In his profound love for Radha, Krishna decided never to play the flute again. He broke the flute and discarded it in the shrubs, symbolizing the end of their earthly love story. With that final act, Krishna returned to his palace, leaving behind the memory of their eternal bond.
